Ontem a Duquesa da Cornualha passou o dia em Bristol para uma série de compromissos com algumas organizações com quem tem vindo a trabalhar.
Yesterday the Duchess of Cornwall spent the day in Bristol for a series of engagements with some organizations with whom she has been working.


Já por várias vezes aqui disse que é preciso falar mais das organizações que apoiam os idosos. Faz falta que mais membros da realeza se interessem por este assunto, e em relação a isso não poderia estar mais contente com o trabalho realizado por Charles e Camilla. 
For several times I said here that we need to talk more about the organizations that support the elderly. More members of royalty need to be interested in this matter, and regarding that I could not be more pleased with the work of both Charles and Camilla. 



A esposa do Príncipe de Gales começou o seu dia com uma visita ao Trinity Centre. Neste espaço comunitário foi oferecida uma pequena festa para idosos que são apoiados pelo Royal Voluntary Service. Esta organização, da qual Camilla é Presidente, ajuda as pessoas idosas a manterem-se activas e independentes.
The Prince of Wales's wife began her day with a visit to the Trinity Center. In this community space was offered a tea party for seniors who are supported by the Royal Voluntary Service. This organization, of which Camilla is President, helps the elderly to remain active and independent.



Graças ao esforço e acção de cerca de 35.000 voluntários o Royal Voluntary Service quer ajudar a criar uma sociedade onde todos se sintam valorizados, independentemente da sua idade. A organização acredita que as pessoas mais velhas podem continuar a contribuir para a sociedade e para as suas comunidades.
Thanks to the efforts and action of about 35,000 volunteers, the Royal Voluntary Service wants to help create a society where everyone feels valued regardless of their age. The organization believes that older people can continue to contribute to society and their communities.



A sua actuação passa por, acima de tudo, fazer as pessoas sair de casa, criando ocasiões e actividades de cariz social. A sua ajuda vai desde uma simples troca de lâmpada na casa do idoso, até ao acompanhamento em consultas médicas ou estadias no hospital.
Its action is, above all, to make people leave the house, creating occasions and social activities. Their help ranges from a simple lamp change at the elderly's home, to join them them in medical appointments or hospital stays.




É simplesmente fantástico!!! A Duquesa conversou com vários voluntários e com pessoas que beneficiam deste acompanhamento. 
It's just fantastic !!! The Duchess spoke with several volunteers and with people who benefit from this action.




Durante a festa houve também dança! E a Duquesa não se fez rogada e dançou, para deleite de toda a media presente,  com o conhecido fotógrafo real Arthur J. Edwards. Mas o conceituado repórter não foi o único a dançar com a futura Rainha de Inglaterra.
During the party there was also a swing dancing! And the Duchess did not begged and also danced, to the delight of all the present media, with the well-known royal photographer Arthur J. Edwards.  But the respected reporter was not the only one to dance with the future Queen of England.




De seguida uma completa mudança de cenário quando a Duquesa reuniu com sobreviventes de abuso doméstico para ouvir as suas experiências num encontro organizado pela Women's Aid (WA).
Then a complete change of scenery when the Duchess met with survivors of domestic abuse to hear their experiences at a meeting organized by Women's Aid (WA).


Esta organização defende que cada ser humano tem o direito de viver em segurança e livre de qualquer tipo de violência e abuso. Para a WA, a sociedade tem o dever de reconhecer e defender este direito.
This organization defends that every human being has the right to live in safety and free from any kind of violence and abuse. For WA, society has a duty to recognize and defend this right.




A acção desta organização centra-se maioritariamente nas mulheres, as principais vítimas de abuso doméstico, mas também nas suas crianças. O abuso doméstico é uma violação dos direitos das mulheres e das crianças, sendo o resultado de um abuso de poder e controlo e está intimamente ligado ao papel histórico inferior da mulher na sociedade.
The action of this organization focuses mainly on women, the main victims of domestic abuse, but also on their children. Domestic abuse is a violation of the rights of women and children as a result of abuse of power and control and is closely linked to the lower historical role of women in society.



Camilla, emocionou-se a ouvir as histórias de sobreviventes e falou com voluntários e membros do staff. O abuso doméstico é uma das principais causas na agenda da Duquesa da Cornualha. Um tema que ainda é tabu, mas que tem sido alvo de muitas campanhas de sensibilização nos últimos tempos.
Camilla, got emotional to hear stories of abuse survivors and spoke to volunteers and staff members. Domestic abuse is one of the main causes on the agenda of the Duchess of Cornwall. A theme that is still taboo, but has been the target of many awareness campaigns in recent times.


Durante o seu discurso, a Duquesa mencionou o drama da BBC radio, The Archers, pelo papel que esta produção tem tido na desmistificação do tema da violência doméstica e para o contributo que a WA deu ao argumento. O programa de rádio é o mais antigo de sempre no mundo, contando com mais de 18.150 episódios e uma audiência de cerca de 5 milhões de ouvintes.
During her speech, the Duchess mentioned the BBC radio drama, The Archers, for the role this production has had in demystifying the issue of domestic violence and for WA's contribution to the argument. The radio soap opera is the oldest ever in the world, with more than 18,150 episodes and an audience of about 5 million listeners.

"O aconselhamento que vocês deram para o The Archers tem sido brilhante, porque as pessoas que nunca ouviram falar de violência doméstica antes, as pessoas que não compreendiam o que era controlo coercivo, agora sabem o que isso é. As pessoas não tinham ideia e eu provavelmente também tenho culpa nisso. Muitos de nós não sabíamos o quão terrível é esta situação e o quão facilmente as pessoas são envolvidas numa situação destas. Aparece um homem que é encantador e educado para toda a gente, então tudo o que vemos é o seu lado bom e não vemos o seu lado negro." 
“The advice you gave to The Archers has been so brilliant because people who have never heard about [domestic violence] before, people who didn’t understand about coercive control, now understand.
They had no idea, I am probably guilty of that too. A lot of us had no idea of quite how terrible the whole situation is, and how easily people are taken in. Along comes a charming man who is polite and nice to everybody else, so they all see his good side and they don’t see this other dark side.”


De seguida, e para finalizar a sua visita, Camilla visitou algumas lojas locais, o que causou muita surpresa entre os proprietários e empregados perante a presença de tão ilustre figura.
Then, to finish her visit, Camilla visited some local shops, which caused much surprise among the owners and employees before the presence of such an illustrious figure.

A Duquesa visitou  uma loja de flores, cujos empregados se encontravam bastante atarefados com encomendas do Dia de S. Valentim, mas que ainda assim fizeram questão de lhe oferecer um adorável bouquet de flores silvestres.
The Duchess visited a flower shop, whose employees were busy with Valentine's Day orders, but still made a point of offering her a lovely bouquet of wildflowers.



Camilla visitou ainda a chocolataria Zara e a South Ville Deli, conhecida pelos seus produtos orgânicos.
Camilla also visited the Zara chocolate shop and South Ville Deli, known for its organic products.


Foi notória a simpatia e o à-vontade da Duquesa a conversar com as pessoas na rua durante o passeio.
The Duchess's sympathy and willingness to talk to the people on the street during the walk was noteworthy.



Um dia repleto de compromissos onde Camilla mostrou o apoio a causas tão variadas como o Apoio à velhice, abuso doméstico e produção local.
A day full of engagements where Camilla showed support for causes as varied as support for old age, domestic abuse and local production.
